WebMCP for WordPress

We implement WebMCP for WordPress and WooCommerce directly in an mu-plugin, without touching the theme or the site's speed score.

from 890 EUR

WebMCP for WordPress is the service through which GOAI adds, to a site built with WordPress or WooCommerce, the ability to be queried directly by AI agents through tools exposed according to the WebMCP standard. This is not a universal plugin installed and forgotten, but an implementation tailored to the actual structure of your site, then verified with the WebMCP validator that we operate free of charge.

What WebMCP for WordPress involves, in practice

WordPress runs, in most cases, through a combination of theme, plugins, and a caching layer, and any code addition must account for this structure, not ignore it. Our implementation starts with an analysis of the site: what content makes sense to expose to agents (articles, pages, products), what actions can be performed safely (search, stock check, form submission), and what must remain strictly for human visitors. The result is a set of WebMCP tools connected to the real data in the WordPress database, not a separate interface disconnected from the content.

Where we place the code: mu-plugin, not the theme

One point we clarify from the start: the WebMCP code is not placed in the files of the active theme. Themes get updated, sometimes changed with a design revision, and any modification placed directly in the theme's functions.php risks disappearing after an update or a future migration. That is why the implementation is done through an mu-plugin (must use plugin), a special category of WordPress plugins that loads automatically, cannot be accidentally disabled from the admin panel, and does not depend on the chosen theme. This simple technical decision has an important practical advantage: if you change the theme in the future or update WordPress or WooCommerce, the WebMCP tools keep working without any further intervention on your part.

Interaction with caching and optimization plugins

Most WordPress sites use one or more caching and optimization plugins, and some of these delay script loading, combine them, or encode them in base64 to reduce the loading time perceived by the visitor. These techniques are useful for speed, but can interfere with how an AI agent discovers and calls WebMCP tools if not handled correctly. During the implementation stage, we explicitly check which caching plugin you use (whether based on static pages or script optimization) and configure specific exceptions, so that the WebMCP scripts remain accessible to agents without affecting the site's general caching rules. When we cannot verify exactly the behavior of a lesser known optimization plugin, we say so directly and propose dedicated testing before considering the implementation complete.

Typical tools for a WordPress site

For a regular WordPress site, without an e-commerce component, the WebMCP tools we usually build cover:

  • Content search, which allows an agent to query articles and pages by keywords or categories.
  • Retrieving the details of a page or article, with the relevant content structured, not just the title.
  • Submitting a contact form through a dedicated tool, with the necessary validations kept on the server side.
  • Listing the categories or main sections of the site, useful for orienting an agent within the content structure.

The exact number and complexity of these tools depend on the actual content of your site, and the list above is a starting point, not a fixed list valid for every project.

Tools for WooCommerce: search, stock, cart

For a store built on WooCommerce, we usually add tools specific to e-commerce, connected directly to the inventory and cart data:

  • Product search by name, category, or attributes (size, color, variant).
  • Checking available stock for a specific product or variant, in real time.
  • Adding a product to the cart and viewing the cart contents through a dedicated tool.
  • Retrieving price and availability details, synchronized with what a human visitor sees on the product page.

For stores with a large product volume or complex pricing logic (discounts, variants, stock across multiple warehouses), we recommend a separate discussion about implementation, and e-commerce specific details are covered extensively on the dedicated page WebMCP for online stores.

What we do not change: the theme and the speed score

A natural question is whether adding these tools affects the design or performance of the site. The short answer is no, and the reason is again the decision to work through an mu-plugin: we do not touch the theme files, we do not modify the visual appearance of the pages, and we do not add heavy scripts that would noticeably slow down human visitors. Existing speed scores, whether measured with proprietary or external tools, remain in the same range before and after implementation, because WebMCP tools are designed to be relevant to agents, not to the visual rendering of the page. Where a site already has real performance issues, unrelated to WebMCP, we flag them separately, but we do not fix them implicitly through this service, only through a specific discussion, if you wish.

How this service connects to the rest of the implementation

The implementation for WordPress is a specific branch of the general WebMCP implementation service, and the entire process, from evaluation to production deployment, can be found on the services page. If you are not sure where your site currently stands in terms of readiness for AI agents, a useful step before implementation is a dedicated audit, which clarifies what already works and what is missing.
